We recovered
Pepe's remains on Wednesday, May 13. He had been struck by a motor
vehicle. I am pleased to find that vet records
show he lived fourteen years or longer, apparently above the median
expectancy for his breed and weight. (Nixon's famous
"Checkers" died at 12.) By the best conversion method,
(accounting for weight) Pepe lived a human equivalent of 80-85 years,
2 calendar years (10-15 "dog years") beyond expectancy.
WOOF!
COMMUNITY: PET-SEARCH TEAM PROJECT
What can we do to help lost pets and their caretakers? Days after
Pepe had crossed the rainbow bridge, a dog owner called, offering
to organize a search. So, let's get ready, first by being in contact,
for the next episode. I'll contact those who've written to us through
here when I'm ready, hopefully very soon. Meanwhile, I'm pleased
to help with your critter search as needed.
It would be a great help to us if our friends would
remove some of the notices posted around town.
Thanks so much to each who helped to post or remove
these notices, and to each of you who has offered suggestions, good
thoughts, helpful words and prayers. Please do feel free
to write.
