    Penway Fark Submits...

    Penway's first Fark (02/27/02)

Each element here has personal relevance to me, making this a kind of  visual voodoo

Crown: Worn by a friend on his 50th birthday
Rat: A pet from my college days
Ruler: From my maternal grandaddy's desk
Crown Weaning Ring: Purchased at a store in Wes 'Virginny, where I lived briefly

Perhaps the rodent represents the democRATs!

Keeping it simple, I chose two of my favorite heroes, Granny D and Snorky my pet cat.

Note the relationship between the cloth on the floor and on the box below, a photoshop joke, bt it actually looks better than most of the submissions

I have a distaste for the $ports industry.
    Can you tell?

Set around Fenway Park...How could I resist?

This is about our spineless military leaders' failure to defend the Constitution by enforcing a fair election. Or maybe not.

Granny D calls Bush's election fraud, (polite for "coup") Bush Baby is oblivious as he 'celebrates' his American freedom.

What a country, where any President's son can (sort of) grow up to become President. The police don't know what to make of it all.

Okay, the Chicks are robbins I photographed at home, not orioles.

The background is from a Boston protest at the Itaian Consulate over the killing of Carlo Giuliani.

I was sort of giving the original a thumbs down by showing him being hoisted into a bomb squad truck equipped for disposal.

The poster (Boston) and background (Quebec, note the tear gas) are Freeman Z pics.

Steely Dan's Pretzel logic album cover provides a new setting for the irish evangelist.

This piece quickly rose x to of x entries and would presumably have done better had I entered it sooner.

I don't regret allowing time for creativity. I'd like to see a voting process that delays voting for a day.

This demonstrates the continuum from defocused to overly sharpened.

This one was voted into the upper 5% of over 100 entries.

This one earned a measely coulpe of votes!

The background is a Freeman Z pic from the protest of Blackhawk Down at Loew's Theater.

It makes sense to me. Perhaps voters disagreed with the sentiment.

Most farking imposes the Artist's view onto an objectified subject. I was working from the other direction, asking myself what these men might really be thinking.

I had just seen The Big Lebowski again.

I reconstructed some nonexistant body parts and learned more advanced use of layers to simplify arranging the figures.
